Spring Program 2023

Starting on February 28th until May 11th this 10-week program is running every Tuesday and Thursday for 2 hours between 5-7PM.

Week 1

We’re lucky to have an amazing new group of teens as well as a few familiar faces for our Spring 2023 programming. We’ve been blown away by both everyone’s ability and attitude. Today we outlined our community agreement and everyone exemplified our values throughout the session: Be Brave, Be Supportive, Be Open Minded.

Week 3

After building a good foundation over the first two weeks, we focused on goal setting and progression. We started the week with some physical challenges (pull ups + planks) to see everyone’s baseline so we can measure progress across the duration of the program. Afterwards we introduced the teens to some tools they can use in their training such as the campus board.

Week 4

This week focused on training tools and footwork. The group got an introduction to hang boards and how climbers can safely use them to build their finger strength. We also spent some time practicing our silent footwork before everyone got to work on some new projects.

Week 8

A lot of people’s favorite week - rope week at Movement Lincoln Park! We’ve noticed how the foundation built from the bouldering at the beginning of the program gives people a much greater level of confidence and technique. We were amazed to see teens giving 5.11- and 5.11+ routes solid attempts, with the majority of the group only 2 months in climbing !

Week 10

Always a bittersweet session. Our last climb together as part of the ASM Spring 2023 program. The group has come such a long way from their first session, growing in confidence and ability. We’re excited to see this group continue their climbing journey beyond these after school sessions.
