Fall Program 2023

Starting on September 26th until November 30th this 10-week program is running every Tuesday and Thursday for 2 hours between 5-7:30PM.

Week 1

First session of our 10-week fall program started strong. Another amazing group of teens seemingly showing no fear even on day one. The best part was seeing everyone’s attitude when trying harder routes - watching people meeting for the first time shouting encouragement to each other.

Week 2

Week 2 saw the teens try some physical challenges including planks, dead hangs and pull ups to get a baseline to measure progress from. We also introduced some new techniques such as flagging and smearing to ensure everyone was has a full arsenal of moves to try and complete their projected routes.

Week 4

Week 4 saw the team refining some of the techniques learnt the previous week. Sit starts and heel hooks unlocked some new routes that people were struggling with before. It’s great to see the progress week by week.

Week 8

Week 8 brought us to @movementgymschicago Lincoln Park for some rope climbing. As usual there was a mixture of excitement and nerves in the group. We started with an introduction to rope climbing, learning how to put on our harnesses, tie in to the rope, commands and safety checks. Once on the wall everyone brought their best attitudes - even those of us who were terrified, were willing to try and try again until we made a little bit further each time. On day two we had Ryan talk briefly about adaptive climbing and inclusivity, and had the teens try different types of climbing including being blindfolded. It was another fun week at @movementgymschicago Lincoln Park and look forward to visiting again
